“We are very happy for the brotherly republic of Türkiye, a critical partner of Uganda,” foreign minister

KAMPALA, Uganda -The Embassy of Türkiye in Uganda on Monday hosted a National Day reception to celebrate the 100th anniversary since the establishment of the republic of Türkiye.
Fatih Ak, the ambassador of Türkiye to Uganda highlighted the breakthroughs that have shaped Türkiye since its founding a century ago.
“The founder of our Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and his comrades-in-arms, all the brave men and women, heroes and fighters, started an independence war in 1919, which ended with the establishment of the Republic in 1923 and made it possible for us today to celebrate 100th anniversary of our independence. Please allow me to commemorate them for their incredible leadership and unwavering resolve,” the ambassador said.
“We have come a long way in 100 years. Türkiye is now entering its second century with a vision, its hard-working people, and a vibrant economy.
The Ambassador noted that Türkiye seeks to strengthen diplomatic relations and shared prosperity with Uganda.
“Türkiye and Uganda have sincere diplomatic relations, we are pleased with this and look forward to further strengthening the current momentum in all areas. Infrastructure development is the key to Uganda’s welfare and prosperity. Therefore, we are happy and proud of our construction companies’ contribution to this end so far and expect new ones,” he said.
The event was attended by Uganda government officials including Uganda’s state minister for Foreign Affairs, Okello Oryem, Minister of state for defence Hon Huda Oleru, State Minister Peter Lakeris (Ministry of Minerals) , Minsa Kabanda (Minister of Kampala), Erias Lukwago Mayor of Kampala, among many others. and members of the private sector, Ömer Aykon, TİKA Country Coordinator in Uganda, esteemed members of the Diplomatic delegation accredited to Uganda, members of the Turkish embassy in Kampala among others.
Uganda minister for foreign affairs Henry Okello Oryem congratulated Turkish citizens in Uganda and the Republic of Türkiye on the 100th anniversary.
“We are very happy for the brotherly republic of Türkiye, a critical partner of Uganda, upon reaching 100th anniversary of foundation. We look forward to the next century of partnership between our two nations, to realize common visions and to cooperate more”, he said.
