Türkiye’s state-run aid agency TiKA has donated media equipment to journalists in Kampala.
“I want to thank you on behalf of Pan African Muslim Journalists Association -PAMOJA, for the donation of media equipment you gave to us. Journalists spend their lifetime giving coverage to recipients of life changing project, but they rarely receive any to better themselves. Your donation is truly timely and will make a remarkable difference and ease our field work, we hope that you will keep on co-operating with our organization, said Swaib Kaggwa, the team leader of PAMOJA.”
“Journalists are part of society, it takes exceptional agencies like TİKA to identify them, and we look forward to a continued fruitful partnership. We request you to maintain the budget used to purchase these items, to support some of our annual planned activities, Katongole Hadijja, PAMOJA co-chair said.” In attendance was Hamza Kyeyune, the secretary general.
The Turkish government, through TIKA, has recently initiated several projects in Uganda, including newly constructed buildings in two schools, tailoring and fashion design respectively, two radio stations, among other projects.
“Today, my work on this specific project ends and yours begins, I hope the equipment can be well utilized to better your work, said Ömer Aykon, TİKA’s Coordinator in Uganda.”
Aykon said that he intends to respond to the needs of PAMOJA as much as he can, to enhance the quality of journalism and capacity of its members as well as facilitate interconnection with global communities. The equipment donated include a brad new laptop, cameras among others.
