Milestones Junior School holds 1st Qur’an Memorization Graduation

KAMPALA, Uganda, The Friday Call.  Milestones Junior School held its 1st Qur’an Memorization Graduation Ceremony where 9 students received Quran memorization certificates.

Among the dignitaries who graced the event include a team from Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Kampala International University (KIU), Mutesa 1 Royal University among others. Parents of the graduands and the general public were also in attendance.

Dr. Umar Kasule, the Deputy Vice chancellor, Academic Affairs for Mutesa 1 Royal University congratulated all the students for their exemplary effort in memorizing the entire Qur’an and prayed for the continued success in their education journey. He hailed the growing enthusiasm and interest in Quran recitation and memorization in the country.

Professor Muhammad Mpeza, the Vice Chancellor, Kampala International University, who is also the director of Milestones Junior School, said that Qur’an memorization sharpens the brain of a student adding that the graduands have attained additional key competencies important for them to be successful in their academic journey.

“Our target at Milestones Junior School is to have Muslim children prepared at early stages for various areas of specialization, we have qualified sheikhs to do this and well-prepared content designed in simpler formats, to make our objective achievable,” Professor Mpeza said.

Milestones is one of the schools that had all students pass in first grade, in the national Islamic Primary Leaving Examinations (IPLE) for the 2022 academic year, released by the Islamic Theological Examination Board (ITEB) at Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).

“We had 9 students out of the 16, scoring 4 aggregates in IPLE, all other students passed in first grade with varying aggregates, Sheikh Usama Yusuf Mubiru, the deputy headteacher, told the Friday Call.

“We congratulate our Grandaunts today for the successful completion of memorizing the entire Qur’an, this is part of our core mission, to train an all-round child well-grounded in moral and academic. We believe that the graduands will go out there and make us proud”. Kawuma Madiina, the headteacher said.
