Annual Hajj
We award the most deserving Muslim journalists with hijja, the greatest journey that every Muslim, with the means to, must make before they die. For this specific award, we are mindful of the fact that this holy journey is a turning point in the life of a Muslim, spiritually, socially, and morally. The selection criterion for this award is largely guided by spiritual leaders.
Help you one another in virtue, righteousness and piety but do not help one another in sin and transgression. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is severe in penalty. [Quran 5:2]
Similarly, if a person is unable to perform Hajj due to a sickness from which he is not expected to recover or due to being advanced in age, and another person performs Hajj on his behalf, then the former [the person who is unable] will get the reward of performing Hajj, Allah willing, and he becomes acquitted from the obligation of Hajj (Fatwa 88989) Allah Knows best.
