Türkiye is a powerful partner for Uganda, President

We will never allow Uganda to be used as a base for terrorists nor to undermine the democracy and sovereignty of any other country, Uganda foreign Minister

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has said Türkiye has become one of the most powerful partners for Uganda and acknowledged its impressive economic strides. He added that Turkish-Uganda relations have gained momentum in every field. He said this in a message to the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, congratulating him and the Turkish people on the 99th anniversary, as the country approaches the 100th anniversary of modern Türkiye.
At an event hosted by the Turkish embassy in Uganda today to mark the Republic Day, Uganda’s state minister for foreign affairs Henry Okello Oryem said that both countries enjoy cordial diplomatic relations established more than more than 50 years ago and mutually beneficial cooperation in military, education, economic, cultural and technological areas.
“I wish to acknowledge the involvement of the government of Türkiye and its private sector in Uganda development process. The two countries signed a bilateral trade agreement that has formalized the business traffic between the two countries. Other cooperation frameworks signed during President Erdogan’s visit to Uganda have facilitated implementation of several joint projects in the field of education, ago processing and value addition, infrastructural development, ICT among others,” Oryem said.
“Uganda is a peace-loving country and cherishes an environment of stability, peace and security, for the country, the region and entire world, as a peaceful resolution of conflicts and condemn all forms of terrorist attacks wherever they occur. We will never allow Uganda to be used as a base for terrorists nor to undermine the democracy and sovereignty of any other country,” he added.

Turkish ambassador to Uganda Kerem Fikret Alp said that Ankara has attached importance to enhancing ties with Uganda, because the East African has an extraordinary amount of diversity in both terrestrial and aquatic habitats.
“This is my last speech, as my successor has been appointed and will be replacing me soon. I carried out my duties with genuine love and affection for this beautiful country of Uganda and its beautiful people. I carried out my duties with pride as the representative of Türkiye, the largest country in Europe both in population and territory, the only one which has never been occupied, colonized, divided or united since its establishment 99 years ago. A country that managed to remain sovereign and independent throughout its life. I end my tenure with love and pride, and in peace, these values cannot be measured by any numbers or digits,” Alp said.
